While rural Bengal will happily grow paddy and potatoes and savour it with the free fish from the pond, what about the cities !!
I see a huge demand for Old Age Homes in Kolkata !
Case in point is a Commerce graduate; he will join his dream St Xavier's College and then
a) Either take CAT and join a B-school quitting the city forever to join the marquee I banks / consulting firms/ FMCGs etc
OR
b) Complete his CA, search desperately for a job in this city like a Sravan Kumar and then decide to move out after, as a fresher, not getting a breakthrough in Kolkata's babu companies or being exploited and seeing his career stagnate for a couple of years
Now that jama kharchi is also becoming tougher, scope in practice may also get reduce and hence greater the exodus
Left in the city will be parents who want to stick to their roots and hence stay alone ;
They will have quite some money as remittances from kids, who otherwise come only once a year in Diwali to pay them a courtesy visit. So loneliness and all the attendant demand for Old Age Homes will grow
